हम सब एक हैं

I want to do something for India, My Country. This is a small tribute to my Nation, to its Unity, to its Unity in Diversity...Jai Hind

The poem only reflects my intent to see unity among-st all of us. In no way I would like to say that we should not follow any religion or caste. It is an individual's prerogative. Whatever we follow lets resolve to respect everyone. Lest we do that, we cannot dream of a Beautiful India, One India...

Honesty Learnt At A Vegetable Shop

An interesting event happened today. I was in a grocery shop to buy vegetables. There were a variety of vegetables including ladies finger, carrots, brinjals, onions, raddish, some Indian root plants and many more. The shopkeeper was busy weighing the vegetable items and writing the amounts against them on a piece of paper. At the end he would tally the bill to charge the customer.

I was busy picking my vegetables. But my attention was drawn by a well-built man who insisted the vendor to check the bill correctly. He brought to his notice that he was charged more last time he visited the shop. Reluctantly the shopkeeper checked bill and retorted Rs 334/-. The man promptly gave him the money with change and left the shop.

A few minutes had passed when I saw the same man coming to the shop again. He asked the shop owner to check the bill again and said the bill was Rs 404 instead of Rs334. The shopkeeper sounded a little indignant, but the moment he heard bill should be Rs 404 instead of Rs 334 he calmed down. He checked the bill and with a grin agreed that the bill should be Rs 404/-. With a smile the man gave him the balance and disappeared on the busy street.

I was in all awe for this Good Samaritan. Any other guy wouldn’t have bothered. Or maybe would think he saved some money. And to save that money would sell his honesty, his sincerity.

I have read a lot on honesty in books and I always remember my teacher who reminded us “honesty is the best policy”. Today I saw a practical example. I got a good lesson today. It helped me to ignite the flame of honesty in me. Salutes to the Good Samaritan who taught me and others a good lesson!

Accepting the negativity and positivity of a person

Often it happens to us that we fail to accept the person because of some negativity associated with that person. For e.g. you had a good relation with person. You found many good qualities in that person and later one day may be you had a quarrel or you saw he or she has a negative quality. In order to be away from that negative quality you shun the person or try to avoid the person.

Have we noticed one interesting thing of this particular behavior? In order to get away from one negativity we are losing the numerous positive aspects of that person which in turn would be very beneficial for both the parties. This happens invariable because we are too obsessed with the negativity and we are unable to get out of its grip in our minds.

Intelligent thing would be to accept the negative and positive aspects with equality. Acknowledge the negative and acknowledge the positive. Selectively keep the negative thing out of your heads and not allow it to affect you. And accept the positives of the person and make use of them for the betterment of the person and others.

This particular approach is not always black and white. Because acceptance or non-acceptance of the situation or person usually is blended with emotions. The impression of a negative emotion clouds the thinking and filters everything that is perceived with a negative feed. The first important thing is to know how to handle the negative emotions which disturb us. Once you get out of the negative emotions then intellectual clarity dawns and ability to accept the negativity of a person also improves.

An ideal state of mind is acceptance of positivity and negativity in the same way and not getting influenced by it. With an unequivocal acceptance the negativity also withers away with time.

Historical Rama : Readers Review

Historical Rama - Book Front page

I had an opportunity to read the book “Historical Rama” by Mr. D K Hari and D K Hema Hari. The book is published jointly by the Bharat Gyan & The Art of Living.

The book brings forth to the reader some very interesting facts on the existence of Lord Rama. The authors have a holistic and scientific approach in their research. The facts are corroborated with proofs from different fields namely
  1.            Literature of different times in history by people from different background
  2.        Archeological evidences
  3.        Geographical evidences
  4.        Archaeo-Astronomical events

I was astonished to see how using current world planetarium software, the exact dates of certain events about 7000 years ago could be gauged. And making it more surprising, these dates match closely with many events that were depicted in Ramayana.

The various geographical locations depicted in Ramayana and their existence in Today’s India like Ayodhya, Panchavati in Nasik, Kishkinda near Hampi, Rameshwaram and the Nala Setu arouses curiosity in the reader’s mind. The most special to me was the ingenious built of Nala Setu – the present day Adams Bridge connecting India and Sri Lanka. Built by the Engineer Nala of the Vanaras, it is indeed a wonder!

I liked how the author explains on the existence of Vanara’s i.e., the monkey clan belonging to Lord Hanumana. To an intellectual existence of monkey’s conversing with humans might seem ridiculous. The explanation by the author makes one rethink about the existence of Vanara’s.

In addition, the author in short gives a very good explanation of pre-British and post-British history of India. How historical facts of Aryan invasion were concocted by the British for their short term benefits which in turn caused long term damage to the Indian Civilization.

The book is written in a simple language where the prose is juxtaposed with facts and figures in the form of pictures. It is a good reading material for any intellectual who does not believe the existence of Rama as Human being on the Planet and for others it is more interesting to get a hang on Rama’s existence on the Planet Earth.

The book can be brought online on https://store.artofliving.org/in/

Life : Make it & Take it

Life is all about feeling small things in a big way & Life is also about making big things in a small way!

Today I was watching Satyameva Jayate Episode on disabled people and their challenges “We Can Fly!”. Inspiring would be too little to say about it. I was astonished to see how the people had taken the challenges on their stride.

These people taught me something important today! As a citizen of this Nation I feel it is my responsibility to be sensitive towards their issues.

Incidentally I discovered something similar on a mudguard of a motor bike in my company parking area.
It read the following “Life’s 10% what you make it and 90% how you take it”

Jai Hind & Jai Guru Dev
